Awards

For extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force.

• This award is given by the CO/XO for actions that take place during combat that are high in merit and are high in strategically planning and thinking combatively

For award by the secretary of defense for exceptionally meritorious service in a duty of great responsibility

• This award is given automatically after 12 months served in the unit

For exceptionally meritorious service to the government in a duty of great responsibility

• This award is given automatically after 6 months served in the unit

For gallantry in action against an opposing armed force.

• This award is given by the CO/XO for actions that take place during combat and are exemplary in leadership and combative decisions

For heroism or extraordinary achievement in aerial flight.

• Air only, This award is given by the CO/XO for actions that take place during aerial combat that are high in strategically planning and thinking combatively

For acts of heroism not involving actual conflict with an opposing armed force.

• Given by the NCOIC/OIC for actions from staff shop personnel that go above and beyond in their duties

For heroic or meritorious achievement of service, not involving aerial flight in connection with operations against an opposing armed force

• This award is given out to Squad members that fought off the enemy with and created the initiative to be aggressive and their actions were in the benefit of the Marines directly around them

For heroic or meritorious achievement of service, not involving aerial flight in connection with operations against an opposing armed force

• Given by Air CO/XO for actions that take place during aerial combat that are high in strategically planning and thinking combatively

For meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight

For Junior Officers and Senior Enlisted personnel whose professional and/or leadership achievements are clearly of a superlative nature

For active participation in ground or surface combat

• Given upon promotion to PFC+ or equivalent

Based on conduct for continuous active service

• By recommendation from Squad Leader

For opposed landing on foreign territory or operations deserving special recognition for which service no other campaign medal has been awarded

• Complete a whole campaign with 75% or more attendance

• Attended at least 75% of a campaign and never died

Being wounded or killed in any action against an enemy of the United States or as a result of an act of any such enemy or opposing armed forces.

Participating in a seaborne operation while in service

• Do an amphibious landing/raid, awarded at the end of the campaign
